Tanah Lot
The ancient temple of Tanah Lot is located on the west coast, about 20 km north of Kuta.
The temple was founded around 1540.
The name suggests a meeting place of land (Tanah) and sea (Lot).
It can only be visited at low tide, the incoming tide turns the temple into an island twice a day.
The scenary is especially nice at sunset.
When to go?
As the tide times vary daily, be sure to inquire after the best time to visit.
You can combine the trip to Tanah Lot with a visit to some rice paddies.
